What to do if you get a Cracked Screen

Many things today are really expensive, especially when it comes to any sort of new technology. There are a few reasons for this, mainly due to the raw materials being so expensive as well as the demand for the latest and greatest gadgets being so high. Gadgets such as iPhones, iPads, laptops and so on are very expensive, so it’s not something that you can just forget about and leave in your cupboard gathering dust if it gets any sort of damaged such as a cracked screen, faulty battery etc. But here’s the problem, what do you actually do if your gadget has a cracked screen, isn’t it pointless if you can’t use it? Here’s the good news, no it isn’t pointless. Even if it’s quite badly damaged you still have many options, including:

Repair it – Although you might think that it’s only worth attempting to repair any type of gadget if you’ve had past experiences fixing them, this isn’t necessarily true. Before the internet, maybe this statement had a bit of truth in it, but nowadays just about anyone can find tutorials on sites like YouTube which will guide you through the process step by step. It’s important to mention that fixing some cracked screens may be easier than others, so if you’ve cracked something that’s difficult to repair you might be better off letting somebody else to deal with it.

Sell it – “Who would want to buy a faulty device?” is probably what you’re thinking right now. But believe it or not, there are plenty of people that would love to get their hands on your gadget even though it has a cracked screen. Some people do this to make a tidy profit, buying cheap and selling it at a higher cost, others like to have a go at a challenge while some other people might need other parts of the device. You’ve got to try to remember that the screen is only one part of the device (although to most it’s the most important part!) and even though the screen may be cracked, I’m sure there are plenty of other parts of the device that’s worth a bit of money such as the battery.

Recycle it – Another option that you have is to recycle your device. This might sound as if you are giving it away for nothing, but this isn’t the case anymore. The internet is flooded with websites which allow you to send them your old devices in return for cash. (usually a check) However, you should take in to account that you won’t be offered the same amount of money that’s on the site since you have a cracked screen but you’ll still receive some money back for your expensive gadget which is better than nothing, right? These companies are usually very fast so you should have some money in your bank account within a week or so! If you’re wondering why companies offer you money for broken devices, it’s because they sell them on for parts, it’s a little bit like someone purchasing a car with an engine that isn’t working and then selling the tyres separately etc. so that he makes some money.

Hopefully you’ve learnt that just because your device has a cracked screen that it doesn’t deserve to be binned. (Remember to get rid of your old gadgets without damaging the environment by the way; you can’t just throw them in the bin) The old saying “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure” is really true in the case of any of your latest gadgets getting damaged in any way, especially if it has a cracked screen!
